To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Xiaomi unveiled several innovative products, but the highlight was the Xiaomi Watch S4 eSIM 15th Anniversary Edition. This smartwatch stands out as it comes with Xiaomi’s first self-developed 4G baseband chip called the Xuanjie T1. Creating a baseband chip is one of the most complex tasks in the tech world, and Xiaomi has successfully achieved it, marking a major milestone in its technological journey.
The Xuanjie T1 chip brings multiple advantages. It enables 4G eSIM support, allowing users to make calls and use mobile data directly from the watch without needing a smartphone. The chip enhances LTE network performance by 35%, reduces data power consumption by 27%, and cuts voice power usage by 46%. Xiaomi claims it tested the chip through over 7,000 cases across 100+ cities, covering 150,000 kilometers.
In terms of fitness and health, the Watch S4 is a complete package. It supports over 150 sports modes including running, swimming, yoga, and cycling. The watch also tracks heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress, and sleep. Gesture control lets users perform commands with simple finger snaps. The smartwatch connects seamlessly with the Xiaomi Auto App and offers a battery life of 15 days in normal mode, 9 days with eSIM, 5 days with always-on display (AOD), and 4 days under heavy usage with eSIM.
The design of the Watch S4 is premium, featuring a forged carbon bezel, braided fluororubber strap, and a dial marked with the XRING INSIDE logo that symbolizes the new chip. Priced at ¥1,299 (around ₹15,000) in China, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed its launch in India, but it is expected to enter global markets soon.
